WHERE IS IT LOCATED?
Cajueiro-Rei is located in the place that carries the same name, in the municipality of Cajueiro da Praia, which is also home to the beautiful Barra Grande Beach and the Peixe-Boi Project (Manatee Project). Since 2013, the tree has been recognized as a natural and tourist heritage site of Cajueiro da Praia, protected under Municipal Law.
HOW WAS ITS TITLE AS THE LARGEST CASHEW TREE IN THE WORLD PROVEN?
On October 14, 2017, Genetics and Molecular Research (GMR) published an article presenting the evidence confirming that it is indeed the largest cashew tree in the world. Researchers used Geographic Information System (GIS) tools and satellite images of the tree, along with software that measured its perimeter to analyze the size of the area it occupies.
This analysis validated its title as the largest cashew tree in the world, earning it a place in the Guinness Book of World Records.
