SCARLET IBIS FLIGHT:

The Scarlet Ibis Flight, known locally as Revoada dos Guarás, is the name given to a breathtaking natural spectacle created by the gathering and synchronized flight of stunning red birds known as guarás (scarlet ibises). This daily phenomenon takes place in the Parnaíba River Delta, on Ilha dos Guarás, where, in the late afternoon, the birds return to their nesting areas to spend the night. As they fill the sky, their vibrant red color creates a striking contrast against the blue and green tones of the Delta’s waters and vegetation, resulting in unforgettable scenery.

Guarás (Scarlet Ibises):

Guarás are birds that measure approximately 50 centimeters in length and have long, slender beaks that curve slightly downward. They typically live in small groups of their own species.
Their most distinctive feature is their bright red coloration, which comes from their diet, based primarily on crustaceans of similar color. These crustaceans contain substances that give the guarás’ feathers their characteristic reddish hue.
